Upcoming presentation . . .

Due to popular demand, I will be presenting an Upcycling Program at the Orem Library . . .

Saturday April 20, 2013
Noon
None of the things I am teaching will be anything you can't find online already --I've even posted most of them here on this blog-- but if you are anything like me, you will find yourself never making them (with the excuse of I'll get to it eventually), or you just prefer to learn in person while someone is there to help you and answer questions. That is what I am providing, an opportunity to get together in a fun group, learn together and go home with finished items you made yourself.

Bonus: You don't have to run around finding supplies, or researching the best adhesives, or even clear a working space in your home.

It's all here, it's all provided and I've got some make-it-easier-tips you won't find anywhere else.

Learn how to make the paper flowers . . .
 the paper dresses . . .

and paperback cover art.

p.s. I will be showing big screen how-to pictures as well as other inspiring ideas to get your creative juices flowing.

WATCH FOR ANOTHER WORKSHOP IN MAY
-- this one will incorporate leather and fabric to our creative upcycled projects.
(ultra mini books and--if I can get the supplies--purses from covers)

Challenged Inspiration

I'll leave it to you to decide if I'm more 'challenged' or 'inspired'! ;)

I sketched and planned on all my breaks yesterday, in preparation for my day off - I've got about 4 sketches and lots of technique ideas that I'm just dying to try out -

So... what do I do in my studio today? I totally ignore the sketches and ideas and go off on a whim! Now, I did create a quote-centered project, just not the same quote (yet) and not what I sketched and not even a 'technically' scrapbook related project!

In any case, here it is:

Photobucket

I took an old out of date orangey-yellow wood frame (see the wall arrangement where it goes here) then;

1- sanded the edges

2- added metal flake with two-way glue

3- rubbed the whole thing down with Folkart Antiquing Medium.

4- added photos to black cardstock to fit in frame

5- added a Daisy D quote rubon between the photos

6- added Imaginisce brads & jewels

Now, on to the next project!

(If only I had as much time as I currently have ideas for!)

I don't get it...

How DOES this stuff multiply like this?

I'm talking about unpacking from our move. Yes, I know, it's been over 6 months already. But hey, at the last house, I unpacked the last box just one month before selling the house unexpectedly. It's not like I didn't have enough time or anything, we were only there for over 10 years.

Egads - look at this!

And, I'm not even going to show my once beautiful room, overloaded and packed with stuff I need to find room for.

How have we ever collected so many photos and framed art? This photo is only the tip of it.

Oh, DH is sure gonna blow a gasket when I tell him I need to buy a few more things to balance out the arrangements I have in mind. At least I'm a super bargain shopper. And what I can't buy I can alter from something old.

Here is an arrangement I've started.

Maybe someday I'll be as happy with the whole house as I am with this one wall here...

Maybe - all I can do is hope ;)
