Serendipity and Sharpie Tie Dye

You just never know when you will be in the right place at the right time.

First, I happened to notice a cute family that came into the library, holding the most adorable book bags. I commented on them only to discover they had only just made the bags the night before . . . with Sharpie markers!

Super simple and very very fun!

1. Get your supplies and tools : Sharpie Markers, Cotton Fabric, Rubbing Alcohol, Rubber Bands, Cups, Eye Dropper.

2. As shown, place fabric over the cup, keep in place with a rubber band. Color a design with markers.

3. Slowly drip Rubbing Alcohol in the middle of the design. The ink will 'melt' and spread.
Add drops as desired.
Let dry.

4. When finished and dry, heat set with an iron.

* We drew stems and bees, then with the fabric over the sink, very very lightly spritzed rubbing alcohol from a spray bottle to diffuse the ink. It will leave spots and washed out spots in the original designs, but we kind of liked that.

NOW . . .

For our second serendipitous moment . . .

Yes.
You can believe your eyes.

Lex and I had the awesome opportunity to hold an itty bitty baby SKUNK!

Just in case you were wondering, NO, he did not smell, other than a bit like Lex after she held him. This little orphan loves cuddling and keeping warm as he snuggles up under your chin.

What an awesome start to the summer. :)
