I feel very grateful and humbled to have been selected as the Rusty Pickle Sketch winner again.
(Rusty Pickle Blog Sept. announcement) (click here to see the October ideas!!!)
I see the other talent out there and I feel so lucky to have been picked.
So, THANK YOU. This means a lot to me - especially this week.
..... I'm a little scatter-brained right now
Those of you that know me IRL, will know that my sister-in-law (my husband's only sister) died tragically yesterday. We are holding on, holding it in and trying to get through the next few days. For some reason we think that if we can keep it together long enough for the funeral to be taken care of, then maybe we'll be able to keep holding on afterwards. It's a tough situation and one that I would not wish on anyone.
I might add that this brings me to one of my main reasons to scrap - to hold onto memories, to capture the feelings and keep them close and visible. When my boys were teenagers I thought they would be the death of me. It was really tough, raising 2 incredible, but still very challenging boys along with a 2 year old. I tell ya, you get NO sleep between the Teen schedule and the Toddler schedule. Scrapping those feelings, frustrations and hopes was what saved me.
My main regret with Becky is that I don't have those memories for her. We seemed to have drifted apart, got busy with our lives and just taken a lot for granted. I thought we had years still. Now we don't. Now she's gone.
Sorry to go on and on. I guess I just want to say to everyone - hug your loved ones, call someone you've not talked to for a while, mend fences and if you like to scrap - well - keep the memories alive with your art.

25 Lehi High School Reunion...
Taking a Photo Trip down Memory Lane -

It's High School Reunion time and I've been going through some old memories. It's kind of mind boggling to think of the time that has passed. I have to admit that it is also very very fun to go back and compare and see if Lex really does look like I used to...
...and, just because I really really liked this when I heard it :

Bubble Face and New Glasses
First:
JUST LOOK AT THIS FACE!
There IS a bubble beard here, at least if you look closely ;)

Lexy loves doing the dishes, or is it PLAYING in the dishes? I'll leave it to you to decide.
I didn't want the following picture to be at the TOP of the page, hence leading out with the photo of Lex.
Next:
New Glasses - always a difficult day.
I dare you, just try picking out a new pair of glasses when you had to remove your contacts for the exam, get your eyes dilated and only afterwards do you myopically squint through fingerprint covered sample frames into slim vertical bits of mirror to assess the suitability of new frames that you then have to live with for at least a year. yurgh!
So, now, I've got new glasses. Despite Lex being in vehement denial; "NO! You don't look like my MOM!
I'm almost tempted to say the same thing when I look in the mirror - who is that person anyway? Or is it the age showing that puts ME in vehement denial? At least glasses mask the impending crows feet, the dark circles under my eyes and the occasional pimple! Okay, let's be honest, more than occasional. What is this with not outgrowing that?! At the ripening age of 41 too! You would think there would be some compensation for growing older.
What is this with all the getting older stuff detour you might ask? Yes, it was my birthday this last week. NO, I'm not turning 42, I did say last week, as in the past and I did turn 41 already. Don't make me older than I already am!

Coming soon: Upcoming: Child of my self, is there such a thing as Genetic Osmosis?
